exam fever

i hate exams. i really do, if only they break the OSCEs into several sessions so that i do not have to cramp every knowledge that i gained for the past few days just for a back to back of 16 stations with 5 minutes allocated per stations. that's absurd. this coming OSCE include medicine, surgery, paeds, obs n gynae, derm and therapeutics mind u. i hate the med school.

epidemiology week

throughout this week, i had been busy doing my epidemiology, or basically public health , an area that i have very little interest in actually. especially, with the inclusion of statistics as part of the module, this week has been nothing short of a torment. i have two epi projects to be completed and both carries quite a significant marks in my finals later on. from the few days back, i had been staying back in the computer lab, doing, editing my project again and again so that i can make the most out of it despite the short period of time.

a true timeless beauty

she's turning 40 and yet she's still every inch of a beauty. i think she makes other beautiful girls wanna cry when they see her. she got this regal quality when she presents herself, she's poise, and her elegance is far superior that most of the girls out there.

p.s: note to miss nasha aziz, i'll go out with u anytime, anyday.

a lesson never learned

next month, stretching from the 1st of may till the end of the month, mark the dates of my summer examination. true, it is very near, just down the corner but the effort that i laboured up until today is appalling. from past experiences, i always vowed to start revising earlier, so that i will be fully prepared when the day arrive, but unfortunately that is easier said than done. i guess, maybe because i'm relying on the last minutes stress to accelerate my momentum, as revision during these moments tend to be more intense with my focus being undivided. so, the best of luck to my self and all of u who will be sitting for their examination.

contemplating

so, i screwed up. what now? i'm not getting any younger but maybe wiser... hahah, a wishful thinking there but seriously what matters most now is that i learn from past encounters and not to repeat them at least in the near future. shit happens every now and then, it's inevitable. good things happen to those who wait. so be patient & just hope for the best.

american idol

this week, the 7 hopefuls of the remaining AI contestants battle it out by belting on some of mariah hits. overall, i think the performance were pretty descend. a handful of contestants really blew me away, showing dynamics and true authenticity when performing, giving us the original version of their own interpretation of the classic hits. and the rest, should be credited as well for a commendable performance.

my ranking for this week show is:

1) david cook - always be my baby
2) syesha - vanishing
3) david archuletta - when u believe
4) carly - without you
5) jason castro - anytime u need a freind
6) kristie lee cook - forever
7) brook white - hero

hepatitis C

hepatitis as u would have guess is the inflammation of the liver. up until now, there are a few major hepatitis virus that is recognized but the three main ones are hep A, hep B and hep C. for this discussion i would like to focus more on the hepatitis C.

so who gets infected with hep C?
in the old days, people used to get infected via the blood transfusion since few screening programmes were conducted back then. but now, hep c patients are mostly from the intravenous drug abusers, unsafe sexual practice and sometimes through tattooing. as like many other major illness, hep C patients can be divided into acute and chronic patients.

patients who are in their first 6 months post infection are considered acutely infected. most of them are asymptomatic. they however can present with reduce appetite, fatigue, abdominal pain, jaundice, itching and flu like symptoms. but unfortunately, about 70% of the acute patients will then proceed to develop chronic hep C. the complications include that of chronic liver disease such as cirrhosis, liver cancer and portal hypertension. at the moment, the current treatments employed are peginterferon alpha, and ribavirin for a course of 24-48 weeks

osteoarthritis (OA)

what is it?

arthritis basically means inflammation of the joints. osteoarthritis is the commonest joint condition that is effecting the population worldwide. it mainly affect the joint cartilage & and the tissue next to the cartilage. In joints with OA, the cartilage becomes damaged and worn, hence OA is often called the 'wear and tear' condition.

who gets it?

OA becomes more common with increasing age, therefore, most cases develop in people over 50. By the age of 65, at least half of people have some OA in some joint(s). It is mild in many cases, but about 1 in 10 people over 65 have a major disability due to OA (mainly due to OA of the hip or knee).

other associated risk factors include genetics, obesity and ethnicity.

which joints are affected?

The hips, knees, finger joints, thumb joints, and lower spine are the common joints affected. Less commonly affected joints are shoulders, elbows, wrists, ankles, and toe joints. In many cases, just a few joints develop symptoms with one or two becoming the most troublesome. In some people, OA develops in many joints.

what are the symptoms?

classical feature include pain, stiffness, swelling and limitation of joint movements. . The severity of symptoms varies. In many older people, OA is mild, does not become worse, and does not make you any more disabled than expected for your age. A common wrong belief is that OA is always a progressive and serious disease

what are the treatments?

basics things such as cut smoking, exercise, reduce weight, eat healthily, use walking aid if necessary and go to physiotherapist for advice.

other than not, paracetemol (panadol) is often used to relief pain along side with other mom steroidal anti inflammatory drugs. other medications include hyaluronic acid injection, glucosamine. and if the condition is severe, joint replacements will be required.

e=mc2

this album is hot in my playlist rite now. gem tracks include migrate, i stay in love, bye bye, n side effects. though touch my body is the 1st single from this release, i kinda feel a bit indifferent bout it. yeah, it's catchy n all that but the lyrics is way too tacky for my liking. anyway, if compared side by side with the emancipation of mimi, this album lacks the variety of genre that the previous record offer. almost all the songs in e=mc2 are mid tempo with a bit of ballad thrown in as a filler. however, having said all that, it is no doubt that this is one of the best album to date for this year. n i bet with all the promotional n marketing strategies used, this album will shoot up high to top the album charts.

updates on my project : part 2

shoot.... i have to scrap all the ideas and plans that i invested so far. turn out, my supervisor thinks that despite he believe is it a good project to begin with, it doesn't hide the fact that this project is way to big to be done by an undergraduate. so he proposed a new topic for me. aiyaya, kene start from scratch back la ni.. aduh....
